Pokemon Competition

Is there going to be a pokemon tournament this year?
If so,
a) are there going to be prized, and
b) what pokemon and/or items are not allowed to be used?
Also, do you think there will be both single and double battle versions?
Any thoughts on this?

i think there will be one, but as for pokemon/item allowance, i don`t know.
Most tournaments are usually prized

Guess i would need to brush up on my pokemans again, but i would do this.   I won a copy of battle revo before when it first came out. They had those mini tournys at EB games

Well, Battle Revolution doesn't support Gold and Silver.  So, for that tournemant I would guess not.

I'll be glad to help out with the Pokemon Tourny for sure. Plus I can make a few special prizes in the form of downloadable Pokemon to be given out as prizes if anyone or everyone can give me a heads up before the convention.

According to the box of my new shiny SoulSilver, the game will work with Battle Revolution, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.

-6vs6 Single battle or Double Battle.

-Battle Revolution will be set to Level 50 All.

-Players will battle with a single elimination rules in effect.  Each player will need to turn in a list of pokemon that they plan to use in the tournament before hand.

-Each player needs to supply their own DS and Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/SoulSilver/HeartGold game and ensure that the DS is charged.  (Heartgold/SoulSilver untested at this point).

-Sleep and Freeze Clause on:  No more then one Pokemon may be frozen or put to sleep by his or her opponent.  Anyone that breaks the rule during a match will result in an immediate forfeit.

-You may use more than one of the same item

-Species Clause on: No more than one of the same Pokemon on the team

-No last Pokemon self-destruction, Perish song, or destiny bond

-You may not change your Pokemon between tournament rounds. You must use the same team of 6 through the entire tournament, but you can rearrange your team.

-The use of ANY cheating devices such as Action Replay or Gameshark to alter your Pokemon in ANY WAY is prohibited. Players known to have used such devices will be disqualified from the tournament immediately.

-All general Video Game Room rules are in effect as well.

-Both finalists will have their 6 Pokemon team checked for legitimate stats and ensure no team changes were made.


The following Pokemon are banned:
-Mewtwo
-Mew
-Lugia
-Ho-oh
-Groudon
-Rayquaza
-Kyogre
-Wobbufett
-Latios/Latias
-Darkrai
-Dialga
-Palkia
-Giratina
-Aruceus

You may only use one of the following Pokemon:
-Zapdos
-Moltres
-Articuno
-Raikou
-Suicune
-Entei
-Regice
-Registeel

-Celebi

When you say "register" (And trust me I have good reason to ask this question as it has happened to me before) does that mean that the pokemon themselves can not be changed at all (ie. change of attacks/items)?

And another question, I know alot of tournaments have allowed the use of a 7th  member as to add a bit of surprise to the tournament, would this be a valid idea?

I've never played Pokemon competitively - what's the motivation for this rule?

Also, I'd like to ask for a recommendation - which would be the DS title to get?  I had been thinking Platinum (I kind of like the idea of playing a new adventure - though of course the game's a few years old now) but I never played Silver and Gold, so the remakes of those are options as well...

I can't imagine I'd be any kind of contender in a competition but it might be fun to play some games socially if I get the game and can get a team of critters together...  (I really wish they'd included some animation in the DS titles, though...  It's actually one of the reasons I held back on Platinum...)

Having putzed with Silver, I must say the enhancements to the game are incredible over perl/diamond/platinum.

Those rules are designed to prevent slaughters. The banned list is full of broken pokemon.  Although I SO SO SO Wobbuffet!!!!  Such a broken pokemon!!!
