Art Show Rules
1. All participants in the Art Show must have a valid Tekkoshocon 2010 badge. Anyone with a badge is welcome to participate; this includes staff, dealers, panelists, and guests! There is no limit to the amount of pieces you may enter; The Art Show Head and Lieutenant may limit the amount accepted due to space.
2. All art in the Art Show must be the original work of the submitting Artist. Traced, copied, or otherwise plagiarized work will not be accepted. Prints of the Artists' original work are accepted provided the Artist can attest that it is his/her own work.
3. Artwork MUST be labeled with the name of the piece, your full name, and badge number. The badge number will be located on the back of your badge.
4. Artwork must be suitable for all ages. Graphically violent or explicitly sexual pieces will not be accepted.
5. Artwork must be of a suitable quality to display. Work on lined paper, tracing paper, or a lightweight paper without backing will not be allowed. Unfinished sketches, sculptures, clothing, or any other work along these lines will not be accepted. Examples of acceptable pieces are finished line art, full color prints, paintings, sculptures, handmade clothing (such as kimonos or gothic lolita dresses), costumes, or plush.
6. Artwork must be ready to display by hanging, leaning on a small shelf, or on a table. For 2-D work this means either matting the piece or providing it in a light mylar frame. Please let us know if it is acceptable to lightly tape the back of your work. Please supply your own dress form or hangers for any textile art.
7. The Art Show operates a silent auction. If you want to participate, you will fill out an auction card with your name, the name of your piece, and the opening bid price. This will be displayed with your artwork. If you do not want to sell your piece, you will mark the card as 'NSF' or "Not for Sale".
8. If you have business cards you would like to display with your piece, you must provide your own holder (for example, a small hang-able envelope). You may also make a small flyer (four by six inches) to display beside the work if you do not have business cards. If you have a table in the Artists' Alley, feel free to advertise your location in the flyer.
9. All art should loosely fit into and anime conventions theme. For example, we accept pieces with themes such as: anime, manga, comics, fantasy, sci-fi, Japanese video games, ect. Artwork inspired by or relating to Japanese culture is also accepted and highly encouraged!
10. Any art not picked up by the Artist or winning Bidder by the end of the convention becomes the property of Tekkoschocon, INC. If a situation arises and you are not able to pick up the artwork by the end of the convention, notify the Art Show Department Head or Lieutenant before Sunday.
11. The Art Show Department Head and Lieutenant reserve the right to refuse any piece from the Art Show. Tekkoshocon, INC. and its staff are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to any pieces entered in the Art Show. All decisions of the Art Show Department are final.
12. Tekkoschoson, Inc. is not responsible for theft, damage, or loss to any pieces in the Art Show. Theft of or inflicting damage to anything in there Art Show is cause for removal from the convention without refund.
Bidding Rules
1. Bidders must have a valid Tekkoshocon badge.
2. Each piece of artwork is tagged with an ID/bid sheet that lists the title of the piece, the medium, and the name of the artist. Each bid sheet will list either a start price or NFS (not for sale). Bidding begins at the start price and proceeds in whole dollar amounts. For example, $1 increased to $4 is acceptable, whereas $1 increased to $2.75 is not.
3. A written bid is a legally binding commitment to pay said price for a piece of artwork. Only bid if you are able to pay. You may NOT cross out a written bid. Bids may only be retracted through approval by the Art Show Director.
4. Written bidding closes at Noon (12:00 pm) on Sunday. The Art Show will be cleared of all attendees at that time. Any artwork with five or less bids will be sold to the highest written bid. Artwork with six bids will be entered into the voice auction.
5. The voice auction will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday. At the voice auction, the art is open to further bids by any person with a valid Tekkoschocon badge. Therefore, a bidder should attend the voice auction to make further bid on pieces s/he wants to purchase. The bidder making the highest bid by voice will buy the art at that price. If there are no voice bids, the art will be sold to the highest written bid.
6. Sales will be open from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm; Winning bidders may pay for and pick up any pieces they purchased from the show. At this time, Tekkoshocon only accepts cash as payment for Art Show purchases.
If you need to leave the convention before sales open on Sunday, please make arrangements with the Art Show staff before placing any bids.
7. Proof of ID and your Tekkoshocon badge are required of all buyers at the time of purchase. You must pick up and pay for your own purchases!
8. If you are the winning bidder on artwork and fail to show up to pay for and/or pick up said piece, you will be contacted within 15 days after the end of the convention. You will be responsible for paying the ending bid price on the piece and all shipping, handling, and holding fees. Failure to pay after contact will be subject to a temporary ban from future Tekkoshocon conventions. The ban will be in place until you have fulfilled your half of the transaction and we recieve written confirmation from the artist stating they have received their money.
9. When you purchase a piece of art, no rights (copyright, publications, etc.) to it are transferred. If you wish to purchase usage rights, you must contact the artist directly.
10. All decisions made by the Art Show Director and Lieutenant are final.
Bidding Tips
- Keep track of all bids you make.
- When placing a written bid on more than one item, assume that you will be the winning bidder on all of them. This way, you can avoid buying more art than you can afford.
- Check back often. People will be bidding all weekend.
- Be serious! You bid, you buy!
