Tekkoshocon and the Hollywood Theater in Dormont have been working on building a good community relationship. So far it has been going well.
We had our third movie day their where we showed the Evangelion 2.0 movie. Attendence was down from Evangelion 1.0 and Trigun:Badlands Rumble, but looking at the box office situation in general this was a miserable weekend for the box office in general. So the turnout for Eva follows trend. I personally don’t blame anyone for not coming this past Sunday. It was one of those 16 days in the year where there were no clouds. In all honesty, for as pretty a day as it was I would have loved to be outside enjoying the sunshine.
The next movie showing in January will be the “Fullmetal Alchemists: The Sacred Star of Milos.” I know the turn out for that will be great. We are planning an entire evening of fun at the Hollywood the Friday it opens. We will be starting at 5:30 and going till both movie showings are done. We’ll be having video games, CCGs, a costume contest, and more. EACH showing will be $7.. the showings are at 7 PM and 11PM. I hope everyone can make it out. They will be showing the movie for two weekends I think.
At the movie showing we displayed some Tekkoshocon stuff and some Tokusatsu stuff: Kamen Rider Belts (Den-O, Fourze, and Kiva), some of the Gattai (Zords) toys from Kaiso Sentai GoKaiger. We also had Morning Musume CDs, Naruto and Sailor Moon Manga, and Pokemon stuff on display. We were also previewing Exist Trace’s music so people in attendence who didn’t know who they were got introduced and excited.
On the staffing end of things that happened:
The Web Site Team: They are now tasked with filling in the missing information on the web site. Creating the new Team Tekko web site, and getting the Staff application form up.
Contests: Tekkoshocon’s Conchair agreed with me on doing a fan fiction contest using our mascot characters. A new staffer named Grace will be handling the organization of it.
Manga Library: We are going to be inventorying the entire library again and storing it electronically. The last inventory was done with pen and paper… it also got lost after Tekkoshocon IX.
Me? Well, other than getting people on track with what they need to do? I have the Tekko Kennywood day contract to finalize. It is looking like it will be the end of June. I have Guest of Honor contracts waiting to go out. I also have a musical contract to go out. Lastly, I have to handle some issues with an add on event for Tekkoshocon X that looks like it will probably get scrapped.
I look forward to people asking me questions at our Events about the current state and future plans of our Community.
